Carcassonne Messengers & Mayors Expansion #5 brings the 2025 refresh with modernised mechanics and refined aesthetics. This expansion features tiles with curved corners matching the latest main game edition, alongside updated graphics and revised tile compositions including new river placements. Key mechanic updates introduce town halls replacing abbeys for enhanced scoring opportunities, messengers substituting wagons for improved tile management, and scarecrows taking the place of barns for fresh strategic depth. The refined artwork and component redesigns ensure seamless integration with current Carcassonne sets whilst offering experienced players compelling new tactical options.
It includes 12 land tiles, one of them a river tile, and 6 town hall tiles. All in all, this expansion introduces the following new elements:
- Mayor, new meeple only used in cities that can replace knights from other players.
- Messenger, new meeple placed on roads that can move to adjacent roads or cities after scoring.
- Scarecrow, new meeple that can become a farmer (by itself or replaced by a standard meeple).
- Town hall, special tile that fits anywhere and removes mayors.
